Chickens aren't supposed to jump in lava like this. It doesn't happen on singleplayer.

Sry for the delay in answering. I did see your post and have been looking into it. It seems to have been some kind of glitch in the early spigot builds. I update spigot often so that's probably what changed. 1.9 really threw a wrench in the gears but the kinks are slowly being worked out.

Actually, I believe what was happening there is when the egg misses the slab and hits the chickens directly, which causes damage to them, and then the chickens jump because of that damage.

No, if that was the case, then it would happen on singleplayer too, and in the video there is a time where the chicken jumps when no egg was fired
